Sex Differences in Response to Listening to Self-Selected Music during Repeated High-Intensity Sprint Exercise

چکیده
The purpose of this study was to examine possible sex differences in high-intensity exercise performance, fatigue, and motivational responses while listening music. Physically active males females (ages 18–24) were recruited participate. Participants completed two separate repeated sprint trials each with a different condition: (1) no music (NM) (2) self-selected (SSM). During trial, participants 3 × 15 s Wingate anaerobic tests (WAnTs) NM or SSM separated by 2 min recovery. Following WAnT, rate perceived exertion (RPE) motivation assessed. Relative power output, fatigue index, RPE, analyzed. There significant for relative between conditions (p = 0.228). Fatigue index significantly lower 0.032) versus observed 0.246). RPE 0.020), but not 0.277). Lastly, increased the condition 0.006) 0.090). Results indicate that did result superior performance either sex, responded more favorably subjective outcomes (i.e., motivation) SSM, which may have turn influenced indices during tests. These results suggest respond positively than exercise-induced bouts exercise.

The response of blood buffering capacity and H+ regulation to three types of recovery during repeated high-intensity endurance training
Background/aim: Many studies were shown the effect of type's recovery on performance. Active recovery has been reported by some to promote greater exercise capacity, while others have not confirmed these results. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of three types of recovery during repeated high-intensity endurance training on blood buffering capacity and H+ regulation. Desig...
متن کاملVariability in Prefrontal Hemodynamic Response during Exposure to Repeated Self-Selected Music Excerpts, a Near-Infrared Spectroscopy Study
Music-induced brain activity modulations in areas involved in emotion regulation may be useful in achieving therapeutic outcomes. Clinical applications of music may involve prolonged or repeated exposures to music. However, the variability of the observed brain activity patterns in repeated exposures to music is not well understood. We hypothesized that multiple exposures to the same music woul...
متن کاملDifferences in exercise intensity seems to influence the affective responses in self-selected and imposed exercise: a meta-analysis
Self-selected exercise seems to promote positive affective responses due to the perceived autonomy associated with it. The objective of the present study was to determine the magnitude of differences in Feeling Scale (FS) responses during self-selected and imposed exercise sessions. The PRISMA Statement was adopted for this meta-analysis. The search used PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, and ISI Web of...
متن کاملNeuromuscular fatigability during repeated-sprint exercise in male athletes.
PURPOSE This study aimed to determine the pattern of neuromuscular fatigability that manifests during repeated-sprint running exercise. METHODS Twelve male participants (mean ± SD: age, 25 ± 6 yr; stature, 180 ± 7 cm; body mass, 77 ± 7 kg), currently training and competing in intermittent sprint sports, performed a repeated maximal sprint running protocol (12 × 30 m, 30-s rest periods). Pre- ...
